Sony Entertainment approached Territory to create a unique, stand-out identity for VR Worlds; a series of experiences launched with their new Playstation® VR set. The experiences were designed to show off the immersive capabilities of the VR headset and Sony wanted to convey the tactile sense of transportation to another World. Our initial approach was to develop a truly virtual identity, one that the user can interact with and view freely in 3D space – whilst retaining brand recognition. Due to the infinite possibilities of VR and the Worlds created therein, it was important to create a mark that evoked a sense of excitement and energy combined with mystery. We developed a logo that depicts a void, an unknown and limitless space defined only by the energy around it. We wanted to create a mystery and intrigue with the logo and developed the idea of a void which was designed to be neither 2D or 3D but somewhere in between. The logo will ultimately be used on screen and we wanted to create many different ways in which void was defined - with this version being the first.
