ROLE: CG Supervisor

REPORTS TO: Creative Director

LOCATION: London (Hybrid working - 3 days in studio / 2 days at home)

CONTRACT: Full-time (40 hours/ week)

 

Key responsibility

The CG Supervisor leads creative teams to deliver outstanding visual effects work in film and broadcast productions, directing and overseeing the work within our VFX department while providing technical and artistic leadership. The CG Supervisor works closely with the VFX Supervisor to define the creative direction, RnD and Look Dev of projects. The CG Supervisor also works closely with VFX Producers, CG Supervisors, and 2D Supervisors to assign and review artist’s work, manage and supervising the team, briefing them, and providing constructive feedback.

Being able to ensure consistency and develop production methodologies, creative approaches, and problem- solving will play a big part in the position. The CG Supervisor will help to develop the production workflow and pipeline as well as work with production bidding for current and future projects.

The CG Supervisor reports to the Creative Director.

 

Job description

  • Lead teams of artists to produce creative work of the exceptional standard with which Territory Studio has made its name. Working closely with artists throughout the life of projects, ensuring they understand the goals and deadlines for their work and bringing them back on track when required.
  • In conjunction with the VFX Supervisor, lead the look development and review all technical and R&D requirements for the start-up of new shows.
  • Brief a team to ensure they understand the goals and deadlines for their work, inspiring them to produce excellent work and bringing them back on track when required.
  • Work closely with a project’s producer to ensure that work is delivered within project deadlines and meets the client’s brief, both creatively and technically.
  • Develop appropriate creative and technical responses to client briefs.
  • To help the Creative Director and VFX Supervisor build and develop the Territory VFX proposition.
  • Including recruitment, developing pipeline and process, and identifying opportunities for growth.
  • To inspire, motivate and develop the team. To act as a mentor to junior members, offering them coaching, training, and feedback as necessary.
  • Participate in client-facing meetings and calls, alongside producers, receiving feedback and offers creative advice as projects progress.
  • Remain up-to-date with current creative trends and innovations.
  • Develop a culture of excellence around the creative use of techniques, software, and technology.
  • To help develop and enforce Territory processes and workflow across individual projects and the studio as a whole.
  • As a key member of the studio, some of the important skills to have are great judgment and disposition towards ideas, brand building, and creative strategy. The key personal attributes are a willingness to get involved, and a desire to continue learning.
  • As an ambassador for Territory Studio, forge relationships with relevant creative and technical communities, professional networks, and educational institutions.
  • Participate in departmental and company-wide meetings and events, as required.

 

Daily tasks

  • Maintaining a hands-on approach as and when required, as well as overseeing project teams. 
  • Participate in departmental and company-wide meetings and events, as required.
  • Take part in client calls and meetings through the life of projects.
  • Give feedback on project work day-to-day, ensuring only the best work leaves the studio.
  • Bidding and scoping projects in consultation with production.
  • Hold daily check-ins with the team to ensure that daily milestones and deadlines are clear to artists and that projects are on track.
