Role: Post Production Manager

Reports to: Head of VFX

Location: London

Contract: Full-time (40 hours / week)

 

The Role

Territory studio is looking for a proactive Post Production Manager to join an expanding team of diverse talent and creatives, with some amazing technical skills. Territory is renowned for its graphics and design work, and is also now expanding, and enlarging, its visual effects and digital world in a big way.

We have a number of studio’s we work with, and we have our own San Francisco sister studio. We also work with many freelancers from around the world. We are not your typical visual effects company, but a design company that does visual effects and entertainment in all areas of the media.

 

Responsibilities

The Production Manager will be responsible for the day to day and overall strategic development of the Post Production Department , which encompasses the editorial and IO (input and output department).

The primary function of this role is to ensure that the department stays within budget and on schedule while maintaining the highest technical and creative standards. To work with all the stakeholders, internally and externally, and to make sure all material is delivered, to all areas, correctly and in a timely manner.

Leadership & Strategy

  • Provide leadership and direction to the managers within each dept
  • Represent the dept at Senior management level
  • Managing the department from a schedule and technical perspective
  • Able to drive change and deliver continuous improvement
  • Contribute creative ideas and help translate them into practical plans
  • Proactively suggests creative solutions to solve problems and/or to work within resource constraints
  • Actively contributes to the production process
  • Works closely with editorial colleagues to balance editorial aspirations with resource

Budget

  • Managing the overall budget for the departments

Scheduling

  • Overview schedules for the year and for each project that comes through the departments
  • Scheduling of the post team-assigning resources to projects in conjunction with the producers and coordinators on each project
  • Ensure overall deadlines and schedules are met
  • Communicating with production and clients updating on progress and status of shots, sequences and projects

Client/Customer Relations

  • Liaising with clients and outside facilities regarding all key matters

Technical Duties

  • Troubleshooting post problems and issues
  • Liaising with the Technical departments to ensure that your department needs are met, and each project is covered
  • Strong technical knowledge is required in this post, with strong knowledge of software and hardware in all areas of the media, but more so from the design and visual effects world
  • Ensure client technical delivery specifications are adhered to and delivery schedules are met
  • Ensuring client security protocols and processes are strictly adhered to

 

Essential Skills

  • Developing and managing protocols and processes for the I/O and editorial department
  • Working with film, television and streaming and implementing best practices
  • Working with technical pipeline teams
  • Technical integrity of an efficient workflow for the — ingest and output of footage, final shots / product, data and file management for internal and external distribution
  • Interface and interaction with clients as the studio representative for I/O and editorial business matters
  • Ensure client technical delivery specifications are adhered to and delivery schedules are met
  • Ensure client security protocols and processes are strictly adhered to
