The Role


The Data I/O Technician manages the data entering and leaving the company across all departments within the studio. This is a mission-critical role that requires a candidate with relevant technical experience with VFX pipelines.

Responsibilities


• Manage client deliveries (outgoing and incoming), both physical deliveries and digital deliveries.

• Publishing material into the Territory pipeline.

• Monitor ingest and export jobs on the render farm queue system; escalates issues as needed.

• Work with artists to coordinate client delivery deadlines.

• Technical QA of all ingested and exported files.

• Communicate with art directors and VFX supervisors when new material has been ingested. Also communicate with the VFX Producer, the VFX Coordinator and the VFX editor to manage all aspects of a project.

• Work with pipeline to set up ingest and delivery workflows.

• Help to enforce Territory’s workflow and processes, educating and supporting other team members and freelancers whenever needed.

• Inputting count sheet data into Shotgun and checking that this data aligns with the material we receive. You will need to ensure that the frame ranges, handles, and retimes have been checked and flag any issues with production.


Skills

• Entry level role but any experience within a post-production house is a plus.

• Experience working closely with key Motion design and VFX teams to see feature film/ episodic projects through the studio, meeting internal and external deadlines.

• Effective communication and interaction skills; across multiple teams with excellent written and oral communication skills.

• Excellent technical understanding, with great attention to detail.

• Solid understanding of Deadline, or similar render farm management programs.

• Solid understanding of Shotgrid (Shotgun), or similar production/shot management programs.

• Solid understanding of video codecs, file formats, frame rates, compression and resolutions.

• Understanding of different digital camera formats, for instance, Alexa, Cannon, Phantom and Red.

• Data I/O technicians troubleshoot any issues that come up to do with file storage.

• Desirable, but not essential skills include Python, Nuke, After Effects, Linux or Mac Terminal usage.

• A calm manner, patience, and a willingness to develop the technical I/O and Data facilities and processes of Territory Studio.

• Understanding of Adobe Premiere Pro or other non-linear editing systems.
