The challenge was to create a campaign worthy of Agatha Harkness that could satiate passionate diehards eager for more details while also engaging casual audiences on the brink of franchise fatigue. We partnered to strategise a campaign roadmap that could break from form and embrace possibilities.

Casting the spell

The Marvel audience was primed and ready to get their eyes and ears on as much Agatha gossip as possible after months of “leaks”. The fans had been salivating, and confused, over a multitude of fake title treatments shared via press and social media presumably by the Marvel team.

In 2024, Disney even suggested the final title was Agatha: The Lying Witch and the Great Wardrobe, further fuelling the rumour mill!

Stirring the cauldron

Our job was to conjure ideas that could travel through multiple consumer touchpoints with a cohesive narrative.

We worked closely with the Disney Marvel team to develop routes that were designed from the ground up to create that big bang reveal moment the fans were craving. Activating the full power of the Disney and Marvel ecosystem, our priority was to allow Agatha to bridge Marvel’s character canon and the enchanting world of Disney by embracing both ends of the fandom spectrum and lure those in between.

Unleashing the witchcraft

Before anything could be set in motion, without a final title and release date and a quickly approaching New York Upfront convention, we mobilised to help the Disney team weave together an announcement worthy of all the anticipation.

What resulted was an announcement at the New York Upfronts followed by the launch of this simple but loaded motion asset across socials asking “Who’s been messing up everything?” with Agatha’s signature theme song. The announcement suggests Agatha herself had manipulated the promotional narrative using her own dark magic, and the result was spellbinding.

A spellbinding result

Sometimes, the most potent magic is concentrated simplicity.

We were elated to see the announcement piece win a Bronze for Fan Engagement at the 2024 Clio Entertainment Awards.
