We were tasked with extending the unique, dark aesthetic of the John Wick universe by designing and compositing a variety of digital and physical graphic elements into the final picture. This included the bespoke UI for the analogue phone operator, Muriel, whose system employed a monochrome green phosphor-style display with an ASCII-based interface. This old-tech approach created a crucial narrative detail: a system that’s deliberately difficult to trace. Conversely, we also designed and composited slick, modern bespoke smartphone screens for members of The High Table, clearly displaying notifications of completed financial transfers, visually reinforcing the blend of old-world clandestine operations and modern global finance.

The “Minus-11” icy high-end nightclub features a major action sequence. The flyer artwork we designed is a nod to the era setting and the cyber futurist aesthetic which typically features grunge-lite treatments like blur, smudge, collage, and expressive a science related CG subject.

We were challenged to design the X-ray technology used at the entrance to Minus-11 club. Whilst it didn’t make the final picture, we explored a few different routes for this including LAR, LiDAR, and heat sensing data capture.
