Final Frames
Against the backdrop of the Gulf War conflict and the fall of the Berlin Wall, this gave us the opportunity to expand on the backstory of the characters and fully immerse the viewer into the restless military landscape of the narrative. The film’s engineered momentum is driven by subtle transitions and swift animation that carry the viewer’s gaze from left to right, acting as a way finder as we cascade through the timeline from 1989 to 1991.
Each character’s introduction became a device to communicate their identity: Frank Wood’s iconic stars and stripes hint to his ex-military background whilst Felix’s mugshots give us an insight into his shady past as a tech operative. Weaving together each segment of the timeline, the brand orange nestles in every shot, popping against the monochromatic palette.
