Approached by production designer James Bissell and art director Paul Inglis for on-set graphics support throughout filming, we worked directly with writer and director Chris McQuarrie to support his script, characters and sense of fun. In addition to story and plot points, we had to be sensitive to the franchise expectations, balancing futuristic
hi-tech with real-world credibility. In the past, the Mission: Impossible franchise has used technology to emphasise technological advancements within the spy agency, but McQuarrie wanted our graphics to tell stories, and heighten a particular aspect of a character, often with a great sense of humour and emotional resonance.
