Told in real-time, Hijack is a tense thriller that follows the journey of a hijacked plane as it makes its way to London over a seven-hour flight, while authorities on the ground scramble for answers. The storyline is considerably more complex than just the volatile circumstances aboard the plane. The creative reflects the constantly evolving events which impact the narrative through the metaphor of a giant, world-slider puzzle, where our flight’s trajectory is the primary focus and in a permanent state of jeopardy throughout.
After initially exploring a sinister take on an aeroplane cabin as a creative route we changed tact to explore the use of stylized radar and cartography to present themes raised in the series in its title sequence. The product of this exploration is a flyover-style sequence of blocks of maps which move in the style of a sliding tile puzzle. The 3D tiles in turn slide to reveal a gap where text and the title typography is revealed.
