Project Orion & WIDAR

Client: HyperGiant
Category: Digital Product

Territory Studio joined forces with Hypergiant Industries to showcase Project Orion, an advanced prototype helmet with interactive heads-up display capabilities. We also designed and created UI and UX to show how WIDAR technology can be used in disaster recovery, shipping and transport, as well as military applications monitoring hostile activity beneath the canopy of trees and foliage.

Project Orion

The helmet is designed to revolutionize the way tank commanders detect, identify, and engage targets during combat, state-of-the-art technology bringing the military into the 21st century. Animations feature sweeping moves from exterior desert to interior helmet to illustrate how HUD functionality can drastically transform how tank crews operate in combat, armed with an array of informational overlays to access key data during difficult missions.

HUD Helmet

The high-tech helmet created offers thermal, night vision, and infrared imaging with a virtual 360-degree HUD view of the world outside, information gathered from advanced sensors and machine learning algorithms that detect imminent threats and unseen obstacles as the tank advances. Animations illustrate how tank crews respond to the environment using the new virtual reality HUD helmet, technology tracking surroundings to identify imminent threats as well as tough weather events, such as low visibility sandstorms. Camera drones can also be deployed via HUD to scan treacherous terrain.

WIDAR Designs

From post-natural disasters to military applications and intelligence gathering, WIDAR captures detailed 3D surface maps of geo-regions with the ability to pan, zoom, and rotate within that specific area.

Functional interface designs illustrate the application of high resolution 3D image capture deep in the field, tech penetrating difficult locations to map the signature of unseen objects. Different interface opacities were crafted to display how surface mapping can be enhanced using additional technologies in tandem with WIDAR. These optical layers of merged data can be used by experts such as archaeologists or defense intelligence agencies to analyze regions of interest in more detail.

“Territory did a wonderful job crafting beautiful images to showcase our latest cutting-edge technology. These compelling visuals show how Project Orion will make life-saving decisions for professionals under extreme duress.”

Ben Lamm, CEO of Hypergiant
