A factual documentary, the challenge for the creative team was to strike a delicate balance between story and material without sensationalising either through a creative treatment.
Working with the director Anthony Wonke and editor Paul Monaghan Territory's team helped to curate available archive footage, photographs, media and press clips to frame Mohammed Emwazi’s journey from boyhood in south London to worldwide infamy.
The result is an intriguing title sequence that bring depth, texture and narrative insight to the story. Additional graphic elements, including cutaways and an encryption and decryption sequence support the massive intelligence operation to identify and locate the infamous terrorist.
A co-production between Nutopia, Livedrop Media, HBO and Channel 4, Unmasking Jihadi John: Anatomy of a Terrorists premiered in USA and in the UK in summer 2019.
