Territory brings functioning VR interface and holographic design into Universal’s thrilling Jurassic World VR Experience, a cinematic adventure based on the famous Jurassic Park franchise.
Territory partnered with The Virtual Reality Company (VRC) to create designs for an immersive game that takes place on Isla Nublar, a remote island full of roaming dinosaurs cloned from prehistoric DNA.
The interactive nature of the experience required clear, functional menus for use during all aspects of gameplay. Different colors highlight changing landscapes and mission directives as players interact with characters and dinosaurs of all shapes and sizes.
The hand-held tagger features real-time 3D holograms that float above the surface of the device. Immersive UI and holographic elements pop into view via the game’s VR headset, visualizations allowing players to track and identify dinosaurs while traversing the dangerous Central American island.
In-game holographic animations spin and twist to reveal what dinosaurs have been tagged and collected, each featuring detailed animations to bring a profound sense of presence during gameplay.
Players feel the rush of being dropped onto the fantasy island before the storyline of “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” commences. All holograms and screens were inspired by the film’s esthetic to fit seamlessly into the VR environment. Cinematic visual fidelity was also imperative to match the scale and magnificence of the roller-coaster ride. Our deep experience designing cinematic UI helped establish realistic and compelling visualizations to underline the intensity and excitement of the VR experience.
