007 First Light

Guided by the game’s core theme and the thematic quote, “to light a candle is to cast a shadow,” we played heavily with the duality of light and dark. We utilised the colour gold to represent the concept of “first light“. Through this visual language, we created a fluid transition where a literal flare is lit, casting a shadow that pulls the viewer out of the “real world” and into a visually abstract, “lyrical world” where the rest of the sequence unfolds.

A standout technical achievement for our team was a highly detailed chandelier with all of its detail and refractions, crafted to serve as a visual metaphor for the game’s central antagonist.

We worked with Cinema 4D and Houdini (for advanced simulations) to handle the extensive 3D world-building and character animation, and motion capture footage to bring figures like ‘the Fates’ to life within our rendered environments.

Crucially, our sequence wasn’t designed to exist in isolation; it had to act as a seamless cinematic transition directly into the gameplay. To close the sequence, we designed refractive glass panels that organically revolve and transition into the physical rotating doors of the MI6 headquarters, smoothly depositing the player directly into the action.
