The artwork suite created for the Amazon Studio’s series adaptation of David Cronenberg’s 1988 Dead Ringers, is suitably striking and unsettling.

 

Influenced by the artwork for the 1988 film, and the Marta Szmyd-designed poster that was created for the Polish market, artwork created for the 2023 series retains an expressionist tone and pushes further into the abstract.

 

Reflecting the series' themes of identity, obsession, and the dangers of twindom, the use of deep red, adds a sense of danger and foreboding. The typography is thin and feminine, but hard straight lines and flourishes work to present a dark twistedness.

 

The most striking and provocative image in the suite, two conjoined lambs fused together by their head, a reference to the twins at the centre of the series, Elliot and Beverly Mantle, two separate individuals inextricably linked together and a warning of the dark side of human nature.
