They had envisioned a brand experience and shape language that felt unique to the Nio brand and we had the challenge of bringing this to life kinetically in graphics.
Territory teamed up with ForPeople to create the concepts for the UI of Nio’s next generation of electric vehicles, taking digital displays to a new level. Considering navigation and user experience in dynamic information systems that expressed the Chinese car brands’ design values, we reconsidered the driving experience, applying narrative design to function UX to remove legacy issues in automotive HMI.

We carried out research to understand how motion could communicate UX intricacies that couldn’t otherwise be realised with visual design. To create small moments that were pleasing for the user and seamless and responsive in their execution, we found it important to draw on more organic influences as was being seen in the physical design of the car, a vehicle more sympathetic and in tune with the natural environment around it.
